This is an early rendition of my artwork of Edward Summersby using watercolours and pencil on Arches paper. I would like you to meet Edward Summersby, a 10-year-old boy and great explorer. The image shows him with Hilda, the Snoggle bird. Edward’s granny brought Hilda back from the fantastic Island of Stumbly-Boo, when she was just an egg. Hilda’s mother had layed the egg unnoticed on granny’s airship Doris.
This picture depicts Hilda winning the annual pet show at the Waglinharm Green village fête. They won first prize because of Hilda’s beautiful plumage and her ability to stand on one leg for a long time.
Hilda would accompany Edward on his first adventure to Stumbly-Boo. He was planning to release her back into the wilds of Stumbly-Boo to be with her own kind.
