Description
I created the original artwork of Vampyr with pen and ink on Bristol paper.
Originally, I drew the piece with just black pen. The keyword ‘fancy’ inspired this image when I participated in Inktober, which is a drawing challenge to improve one’s skills and develop positive drawing habits. Earlier, I had also produced a number of early Victorian photo montages that influenced this piece as well.
Recently, I decided to put a colour wash over it with different inks. I really like the gothic feeling of the finished piece. I have always enjoyed imagery that is on the odd and dark side. Since childhood I have been a horror movie fan. Staying up late to watch Hammer horror movies. I took the name for this piece from the 1932 German movie “Vampyr“. Over the years, I have painted a variety of characters related to classic horror movies including the Creature in Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein and Lady Arabella March from the Lair of the White Worm.
